A Few Layouts

I design way more than I create my own layouts, which is why I’m so glad I’m on a CT! It kicks my butt into creating when it comes to layouts! So, here are a few of my latest CT layouts. Enjoy!

Altab

I have just returned from a trip to India for 8 days where we worked in Katchwaa Christian Hospital, near Varanasi (Ganges River, ghats etc.). I go every year and thoroughly enjoy it! This year I couldn’t get over how much Altab (see child in layout pic below!) had grown. But I heard sad news, his mum had passed away from a heart condition. She was only in her 30’s and it made me wonder whether or not she would have survived had she had all that modern medicine has to offer in the west (Ok, so I’m in Asia, but you get the idea!). It was heartbreaking as he had not been able to pay his school fees for the past few months. And when I say school fees, I mean the $0.50 US per month. Ugh… when I got back I couldn’t buy anything as I was so guilty at paying triple that for a piece of sushi or ten times that much for a Starbucks. We are so out of touch… I am really feeling the need to do a lot more than we are doing. As I have seen posted around Facebook so much the last month, “First world problems are not problems”. I agree.

Back to Altab. He’s 13 years old and has no mum and yet he is always so happy. Smiling. Enjoying life. We should be more like him and we should do more for kids like him. Anyway, I made a layout about this precious young boy using a kit from Sanko Studio called “Contentment”. Very fitting for this layout I think.

New Layout

I haven’t been doing very many layouts lately as my designing has taken the priority now that I have been accepted onto the design team of the GDS Store, and my 750GB hard drive is about 730GB full >.< I have never seen my little spinning rainbow thing so often and for so long and it’s driving me crazy! I have taken ALL of my Daily Digi stuff and put it onto a USB (and am SO worried it’s going to throw a fit and I’ll have lost it all!) and I still haven’t been able to find the time to get my hard drive changed to a 1TB. If anyone’s interested, I work on a MacBookPro early 2011 model and I’ve already changed the hard drive once, from 500GB to a 750GB – I would LOVE a 2TB!!! That would be luxury…

.

Anyway, here is my lone layout of the week…. I used a bundle by Sanko Studio called ‘Strive’. Hope you like it!

Julia

That’s it for now.

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and a blessed New Year.

My Latest Layouts

Well, it’s been a while since I posted my latest layouts, so here you are! A few of my layouts. I wish I had time to do more…

.
The first is using my own designs!  A lovely vacation photo taken on the beach! I did this layout in record time & think I need to revisit it as I don’t feel it’s done yet! It  needs more depth and more attention to shadowing. But no time at the moment so it’ll have to do until I have a minute to revisit it. Relaxing on the Beach - Digital Scrapbooking Layout

A photo of my sister and I taken on the Ganges River in Varanasi, India. Fantastic trip! Hopefully we’ll be there again in February.

My Dad Laughing

Here is my first layout for the most wonderful Sanko Studio. I love her style and the {In the Stacks} kit was so easy to use. I decided to do a simple layout as the memory is so strong it doesn’t need much to bring it all back.

This is a photo of my dad laughing! We were on a boat going down the Ganges River in Varanasi, India. It was incredible! We drove into town early in the morning, just before sunrise, and got some amazing photos. We then took a boat ride down the river to the area that has the funeral pyres. You see it on National Geographic and in magazines, but when you go there and see it for yourself it is very different. It almost doesn’t live up to your expectations… and then you take a look at the photos you took and you are amazed.

I love India and try to visit every year. If you’ve never been, you must put it on your list of things to do!

Enjoy!

My Layouts This Week

I need more time! It feels like each week I have less and less time to devote to my scrapbooking! I adore it and know that I must keep it up, but some days I just want to sleep when I get home (usually after 10pm and I leave the house before 8am). Here are my layouts from this week. Not as many as I would like, but I’m proud that I managed to do this many. Hope you like them!

Special Layouts

I really did have the most fantastic week! I didn’t think anything would top last week, but this week did!

I have been looking for my one of my most special students for a few years now. Never in a million years did I think we would ever lose contact, but then life happens! Anyway, I found her last week (amazing story! true miracle!) and I met up with her this week. She’s fabulous and has done so well with her life even though she has serious hurdles to overcome. I’m SO proud of her!

Layouts for This Week

Here are a few of the layouts I did this week. I really did have the most EXCELLENT week! I have been looking for one of my favourite students that I taught 10 years ago (I’m young, still in my early thirties – can’t believe I have students I taught 10 years ago!!!). Anyway, I love her dearly and am so pleased I found her! A colleague of mine found her for me (we worked together at the same school) WOOT! And I contacted her through Facebook. Here is what she posted on her wall (in addition to the most lovely messages!)…

“Very very very happy about having contact again with my beloved primary school english teacher!!!! We haven’t met for over 10 years!!! Always love u my Ms Sa”

It’s weeks like this week that make teaching worthwhile!
